Let us learn the lessons from the election war

In the heat of the election contend, and as one of its inevitable bearings, political figures and their would-be´s who, after the renewal of the fire of their political enthusiasm by the more or less legitimate interest of driving their candidates to success, use the media to intervene and add their grain of sand toward the victory of their own. The great interest at play generate a vivid desire to entice voters and make them incline to their own cause, and simultaneously nurse the urgency to defeat their competitors in the prior ideological combat, as absolute guarantee that the same will happen in the election day. Hence, the necessity for the participants´ speech in the pre-electoral debate to sound genuine and believable becomes evident; also, it becomes more likely for them to make a true effort to appear sincere in some of their affirmations. Today´s speeches can, therefore, be franker that the ones delivered in other circumstances.

Well, it is in this context that a “young ideologist” from PAN makes his debut, whose name is not necessary to mention, who, in his first “memorable” intervention before the assembly of representatives of Mexico City, was presented as “leader of the youth” from Partido Acción Nacional (PAN). And as such, he delivered a speech in which, more than brilliant ideas supported by logic and real arguments; more than sensible proposals (and viable, above all) for this, a country that so urgently needs it, what he displayed was his wrath, his ferocious hate against everyone and everything that did not coincide with his own vision of the world; he evidenced an irrational dogmatism, that allows him to never doubts his opinions because he considers them irrefutable truths merely for being his; he exhibited an insane, medieval intolerance toward the human differences, which pervaded in the phrase with which he condemned as a heinous crime and as a moral offense toward the entire society the PRD law which allows “marriage among fags”. That way, without the minimal respect toward other human beings who are his brothers, since they are children of the same God under whose name he protests and combats, the hurtful epithet thundered like a brutal whiplash over that social minority, so harmed and aggravated by the dedicated moralizers of the world, in every country and every period.

Nobody was seriously invested in the matter, be it because they shared the same opinion as the young Savonarola, or be it because they, mistakenly, consider it an “unimportant child´s mischief”. His own party limited itself to “make clear” that he is not a leader of the PAN party´s youth group and that his opinions were only his. Days went by and now we hear of a new and edifying speech from the same PAN apprentice. Due to the spontaneous protest (and in this resides its importance as symptom of what people think about the current situation of the country) that guests and owners of the small food establishments in the well-known community of Tres Marías, neighboring Mexico City, against the presence of reporters´, photographers´ and staff summoned by the PAN presidential candidate, B.S. Josefina Vázquez Mota, to make publicity by giving herself a “dose of humility”, and against the candidate herself, the “young ideologist”, seemingly irritated, attacked those who dared demand respect for their human dignity and their privacy, both violated, without their consent, by the campaign team and by the candidate Vázquez Mota herself. What did the “young promise” from PAN say now? In synthesis, that Tres Marías is a “damn poor town” which would have to be punished establishing a restaurant of the kind that have been made popular by the foreign food chain companies, to end once and for all their dirty food stands. He added that the inhabitants from Tres Marías are “pinche indios muertos de hambre” (starving indians) who would hopefully remain “screwed over” forever, because that is what such type of undesirable people deserve. This time, like the first there does not appear to be a reaction proportional to the harm inflicted to a whole population that deserves respect, no matter how humble their inhabitants may seem and be.

However, the arrogant, racist and discriminatory behavior of the “PAN youngster” is not a “child mischief”, its seriousness is evidence in two ways. Firstly, it manifests that in the 21st century Mexico, against what might be thought, the ideology of the first Spanish conquistadors and colonizers prevails alert, powerful and acting. An ideology of those who made of disdain, offensive distortion and true calumny of the indigenous civilization and all that it stood for, included and defended (language, religion, rituals, writing, dress, education, medicine, philosophy, poetry, etcetera), the fundamental weapon to justify before the entire world’s eyes the brutal dispossession of the defeated’s wealth and their very slavery, the degrading beastly treatment they received. This colossal ideological maneuver was synthesized in one phrase, the same that still repeats today, without the least bit of shame, the emergent ideologist of the future PAN: “damn Indians”, I wish they all die at once and leave the world in the hands of those who really value it. It is clear that nowadays this is not exclusive of rich Spaniards, it has become a common patrimony of many migrants, made wealthy by our land, who see no other way of thanking than calling this land´s legitimate sons “damned starving indians”. And to prove it, not only are there insults form the PAN youngster; let us remember the beating a so-called Sacal gave to a humble worker of the building where he lives while yelling “ damn Indians, is that what I pay you for?”.

The second serious aspect is that the PAN cub’s ideological vomit was not an exclusive creation of his own mind, nor did he learn it from school or church; instead, he learnt it within his own party; it is the “political culture” that has be taught by “wise adults” who do know how to deal with this country full of lazy, ignorant and begging Indians. Hence that the only difference between this “young promise” and the “mature ideologists” be the ability to hide their true ideological identity, the expertise to hide what they truly believe and what their ideology intends to undertake. The only valuable thing from the young Hitler’s speech is, therefore, his sincerity, the eagerness to completely exhibit himself without hiding the falcon’s claws underneath a powerless-creature disguise. “the young and drunk speak the truth” expresses popular belief. Therefore, let he who has ears to hear and eyes to see, derive from this edifying episode the corresponding conclusions and act consequently. That is everyone’s own personal responsibility.
