The Elisa Carrillo Foundation supported 20 poor children of Tecomatlán, Puebla, and two from Veracruz, on their trip to Berlin, Germany, to participate in the 12th International Dance Festival “Tanzolymp”. These infant members of the National Folkloric Ballet of Antorcha Campesina will represent Mexico in the category of folk dance and classical dance.

In a statement, the Mexican dancer managers highlighted that this will be the first participation of a large group of Mexican children in that contest, which will show Mexican dance diversity.

They explained that the preliminary round will be held on February 18 to 20 at the Russisches Haus, and the winners Gala will be on February 21 at the Festtpiel Haus Teather in Berlin.

The “Tanzolymp” competition promotes an international exchange of classical, modern, folk and jazz ballet, with the collaboration of international dance figures.

The best groups of dancers and soloists will get invitations to participate in other competitions in Europe, and the winners of a medal will be able to get scholarships at the best European dance schools.

Elisa Carrillo holds the degree of Ballet teacher, awarded by the Culture Ministry of the German Republic and the John Cranko Schule Stuttgart, in Germany (2001-2003). She is member of the International Dance Council under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

She recently performed at the International Festival of Arts in Sochi, Russia, and performed “La Sylphide and the Scotsman” and “Scheherazade” with Russian Prime dancer Mikhail Kaniskin, who is her husband and dance partner.

Besides she continues with Staatsballet season in Berlin, where she plays “Cinderella,” “Onegin” and “Giselle”. She plans to visit Mexico in July to provide some galas in the State of Mexico and other states.
